Statusupdate for Mid-May with New Layout

Hi guys! Yes I'm still alive, and I finally put a blog in English again.

It has been a little chaotic lately, so that I prefered to take some time to relax instead of posting news here. But now it's about time, that I put something new again.

And actually there is a lot to tell. Not so long time ago my girlfriend got double-promoted and is now acting as a Project Manager. Due to this development we're not going to leave at the end of September as planed anymore, instead we're going to stay a year from now on or an undefined amount of time longer. Especially because of this it would be great if there was the opportunity for me to become a PM as well soon. But unfortunately I cannot do more than wait for my chance and show them what I can do. Anyway, there is no thought of going back home at the moment.

Because of that we also decided to get ourselves an apartment just for the two of us. The contract is already signed and we'll move at the end of June - beginning of July. I'm not completely happy about the choice to take this apartment, but she loves it, and who am I to ruin that for her?

I bought the old ride of a collegue, who went back to Europe. I hope that thing is not going to collapse right underneath my ass. I just don't trust cars, that clock more than 120,000 km, and that thing has more than twice that amount. It's a Ford Contour, practically the US version of the Mondeo. To mark that occasion Amélie's car bit the dust, so that the plan to have 2 cars to take it easy on both is now null and void.

In the background of all this I've been promoted as well and may now call myself a Lead Tester. But this is completely invalid at the moment, since I recently haven't had test teams around me. I'm used as a Spanish tester for toddler games at the moment. This means I can train my Spanish a bit along with my meanwhile fairly tolerable French.

When there's a moment when I don't find myself focused on Spanish, I still have my big translation project, which gives me a few rays of light. I really enjoy holding a little the guiding hand over the project, not as much as I'd like to do, but still, I don't want to complain here.

Since the beginning of May the sun finally dared to enter Canada as well. Today we had, no joke, 27 °C. If it was for me, it could easily stay like this. Even though the fear is rising within me, that I won't see much of my summer. According to what everyone says last year's summer was full of work, double-shifts and weekend work. And this year s said to get even worse. Well, let's wait for it...

So, I think I'll stop at this point, otherwise you guys might lose the patience to read more, because it's too much. Well, enjoy your summer and don't lose your smiles.

Bye,

Sebastian

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!

Sorry, there hasn't been anything new lately. Since I'm back in Canada I haven't had much time, and in the moments when I do, mosty I'm in a bad mood.

Maybe soon...

Vacation at Home

The infos about my coming vacation are only available in German...

And Then It Was February

So guys, what's up? Not even 3 more weeks and I'll be on vacation. Then I'll board the big plane to Germany.

I think it's gonna be nice to see everyone again, have a beer again after that long time, and to tell and hear what has happened meanwhile.

Only disadvantage: My girlfriend will stay in Canada. I hope that at least the fucking Internet will work, so I can see her online.

Yesterday was our house warming party, since we've been living here for about a month now. It was a really nice party and the cleaning afterwards wasn't that bad.

Friday I went to the movies and watched Pan's Labyrinth; in Spanish with English subtitles. I can only recommend it.

Last week I went for one day to Montreal to work directly at the client's on the PS3. I was really disappointed by the PS3, but anyway, that might change someday.

Thanks to everyone who left me greetings and news.

In The Middle of January

I think it's time that once again I put some infos here.

It's mid-January and meanwhile I've settled down in the new house. My girlfriend returned last week and moved in as well. So far everything has been going great and I'm so glad to have her back.

At work I have a project which we process on several plattforms. Even so it's still not exhausting or stressing. And now for the very first time I'll get my name in the credtis. But unfortunately I'm not allowed to tell what it is.

Three people will soon be promoted to Lead Testers, and of course I also applied for it. But how it will work out, we will have to see, since almost everyone applied for it. Well, as far as I can tell from my life I will have to do this a second time as well, until it'll finally work. We will see...

On Thursday finally two parcels for me arrived here. One was the Christmas present for my girlfriend, which I had to get from England to Canada. Fortunately it had the desired effect. The second one was my Christmas parcel from Germany, which took way over a month. Finally I have Tempo again instead of Kleenex and a few packs of Maggi-Fix.

Well, as you can see the new year started quite well over here. So, how are you guys doing?

2007 With New Pictures

Hey!

Yes, we made it, 2006 is finally over. Now everything starts all over again. Well now, I survived it again. We had a really nice party at The Embassy. 2 bottles of sparkling wine and a bottle of Jack Daniel's later I went home again.

Whereas I should maybe mention that home is not the house from the first pictures anymore, but that I moved successfully. Taka, Sébastien and myself are already in the new house. Amélie will only come next weekend when she will be back in Canada.

So far the house is really ok and partially also comfortable, but we will all have to settle in a little more. Pictures of the new house will soon be put here. Yesterday I spent 180$ on a duvet, pillows, sheets and stuff. 220x260cm is the only true size for a blanket.

Tomorrow work will start again. It's about time, since there is nothing to do here that you would need vacation for.

So, and now the good news for you guys: There are new pictures, this time X-mas and New Year's Eve. You can find them in the navigation to your left or at this link http://www.lgs-event.de/nikeblog/silvester/index.html

Please, let me know how you like them.

Vacational Time

That's it, Christmas is over. I can tell you, without a tree, decoration, church, presents and mood Christmas is just a day like all the others. Christmas got canceled this year. But who cares?

Yesterday we had a little movie night to not completely surrender to boredom, and today we went to Montreal for a little time. We didn't do much, just walk up and down the shopping mile in freaking cold until we had dinner at the Hard Rock Café.

Before New Year's Eve I will have to move and then we will party once again at the Embassy.

Merry Christmas!

As most of you might know, Christmas is not my favorite time of the year.

Nevertheless it seems to be the time where the one or the other of you thinks of me. Therefore at this place Thank you and I wish everyone of you as well a calm, nice and healthy Christmas, with everything that belongs to it!

Christmas... and I already miss her

Tomorrow will be the last work day for this year. That can only mean that Christmas is really close. Therefore a large part of our staff set sails to Europe to spend their holidays there.

And so did Amélie, who today boarded her plane. With a heavy heart I let her go and now I'm sitting here all alone and will miss her like hell for the coming two weeks. Yesterday night we spent a wonderful evening together to say good bye. I MISS YOU!!! Have fun in France.

Well yeah, Christmas... I still have no clue what will happen, probably we will get together with the people from the Spanish Embassy, we will see.

Between Christmas and New Year I won't have to work, but therefore I won't get paid either. That means I'll get a lot of time to kill, because I have no idea what to do with a week like this.

In case I don't write anything else before Christmas I wish you blessed holidays, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
